Happy New Year!
Hey, friend. We did it. Let’s all take a collective deep breath and give 2021 a big wave GOODBYE.
Now exhale.
We’re here. Together, we cried 3,743 times since we launched the app on August 1st. About 100 of those belong to me. Something about launching an app about crying had me crying a little bit extra this year. Go figure. So many of them were happy tears, like the day we launched this app. Some were not so happy tears, like when I accidentally messed up the Community Wall for like a month. (My bad, btw.) I don’t know about you, but I’m nervous and scared for whatever 2022 holds. The past few years have brought a lot of really unexpected things and overwhelming amounts of emotion. Navigating through big emotions is a skill and practice makes perfect. One of the reasons this exists as an app is to help create the habit of recognizing when our big emotions and our bodies are trying to communicate with us.
In a perfect world, the perfect data visualizations for your tears and big emotions would already exist! These are still works in progress, and will hopefully be available for you soon. Thanks for sticking with us! In the meantime, I’d like to officially invite you to…
Join the #CryCountClub!
You can join the #CryCountClub for $1.99/month. Each month, receive an email with your cry count and top emotions. You will also get first access to new features on the app and fun extras. This subscription is our first step towards making your data accessible and visual for you! This subscription is hosted through our website and you can subscribe now! (And you can also snag some stickers to show your official membership in the #crycountclub!)
With a New Year, comes a great opportunity to reset. New Year, New Tracker.
We’re starting fresh! When you log into the app, you’ll notice that your 2021 cries are gone (but not forgotten). You can always request old data here, but we’ll start fresh with a new tracker and a new #CryCount for 2022. You can also now add the time that you cried.
Oh! One last thing…the Community Wall is back up! Due to an unfortunate glitch, the old posts have been erased so we’re starting 2022 with a brand new Community Wall. Please be mindful of the topics in your posts and add trigger warnings as necessary. A post without appropriate trigger warnings is subject to removal. Access our trigger warning guide here. When you created your account, you accepted Community Guidelines. If you ever want to refer back to them, you can read the statement here.

My hope for 2022 is that we’ll talk about crying a little differently. I hope we will be more honest with ourselves about why we cry. I hope we will let trusted people know when we need help. I hope we will listen, learn, and love a little more than we did before. Alright, that’s it. I’m getting teary-eyed. Happy New Year!
